Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted by Bluehost, a provider based in the United States. When you visit a page, the server automatically records technical data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page, browser and operating system. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure, on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and are not used to identify you. Because the provider is based outside the EU, this involves a transfer of data to a third country.

Contact form

If you write through the contact form, the data you enter — name, email address, your selection, and your message — is transmitted and stored so that I can reply. The basis is the steps taken at your request prior to a possible engagement (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f)). I keep this correspondence as long as needed to handle your request and to meet any retention obligations, and I do not use it for unrelated marketing.

Cookies and consent

Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function are set without consent. Anything beyond that — in particular the analytics and advertising tools below — requires your consent, which you can give or refuse and withdraw at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.

Meta Pixel

This site uses the Meta Pixel (ID 727384921525288), a tool provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. It records that you visited certain pages or clicked certain buttons, so that the effectiveness of advertising can be measured and, potentially, advertising shown to visitors on Meta services. This involves transfers to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States. The basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can find Meta's own information at facebook.com/privacy/policy, and you can adjust or object to advertising personalisation in your Meta account settings.

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Ltd., to understand in aggregate how pages are used — which pages are visited, for how long, from which kind of device. This may involve transfers to Google LLC in the United States. The basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can prevent this processing through the browser add-on offered by Google at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Fonts

Pages on this site load typefaces from Google Fonts, a service of Google Ireland Ltd. When a page loads, your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers so the font files can be delivered, which may involve a transfer to the United States.

Embedded videos

Some pages embed videos from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Ltd. They are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode, which means YouTube does not set cookies for tracking purposes until you actually play a video. Once you press play, YouTube may set cookies and process data under its own terms; see policies.google.com/privacy.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask what data about you is processed, and receive a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have data erased, where the conditions apply;
  • have processing restricted;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest;
  • withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise any of these, write to the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State where you live or work.

Changes

If what this site does changes, this page changes with it. The date at the top shows the current version.
